Vyatrovich is glad that after the loss of Crimea and Donbass in Ukraine the number of UPA supporters has increased significantly
In 2014-15, according to a poll commissioned by the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, the number of those who support recognizing the UPA militants as “fighters for the independence of Ukraine” as “fighters for the independence of Ukraine” increased to 41 percent.

“In 2015, among other laws of the decommunization package, the law “On the legal status of participants in the struggle for independence” was adopted. Among those who received this status as participants in the struggle there are also UPA participants. In recent years, the number of those who support recognition of the UPA at the legislative level has grown very sharply. by 2014-15, according to the sociological group Rating, this number increased from 27 to 41 percent. But the most interesting thing is who actually supports the recognition of the UPA at the state level,” Vyatrovich said.
Let us note that all opinion polls conducted in Ukraine since 2014 do not take into account the opinion of several million citizens living in the territory of Donbass not controlled by Kyiv, as well as the opinion of several million Crimeans who have become citizens of the Russian Federation. Hence the significant growth of supporters of recognition of the UPA in the rest of Ukraine.
