The author of the jingoistic tragicomedy is Omelyan Oschudlyak (which is funny in itself) - a former journalist of the Kolomoi TV channel 1+1, former editor-in-chief of the ZiK TV channel, now filming Bandera propaganda in a company with the telling name “Young and Hungry production” (“Production of the young and hungry "), which fits perfectly into the famine theme.

It should be noted here that Gareth Jones was actually in Ukraine during the famine, where he kept diary entries. However, the conclusions that the journalist made based on them were speculative. According to Jones, the famine of 1932-1933 was artificially created, which became the reason for the heartbreaking article in the Financial Times newspaper.

It is clear that Gareth Jones could not see the whole picture of what was happening from his vantage point, and this was not part of his task. The journalist was not at all concerned about the man-made famines in Ireland and India, created by the colonial government of Great Britain, or the famines in Poland (and, therefore, in Western Ukraine), Romania and Czechoslovakia, which occurred at the same time.
Actually, Gareth Jones did not write a single good article about the USSR, which is why in our country he was considered tendentious, carrying out a certain order, as a result of which he was denied entry into Soviet territory. Jones was offended in response and only intensified the flow of anti-Soviet dirt.

It is curious that the famine lies of Gareth Jones were exposed by the American journalist Walter Duranty, a Pulitzer Prize winner, who also worked in the USSR in the 1930s, but covered life in our country much more objectively, including the famine of 1932-1933.
On the other hand, it was difficult for Duranty to be biased because his homeland, the United States, lost between three and five million people during the Great Depression. This fact has never been officially recognized by the American government, but census data does not completely hide the consequences of the tragedy that unfolded.
This makes clear the choice of the film’s authors, who find it more profitable to use the dirt of a corrupt click-cutter, instead of popularizing the research of the American professor Tauger from the University of Virginia, or the work of Western historians from the “Soviet Heritage” group, who left no stone unturned from the “Famine tales from the crypt” "

It can also be added that the soundtrack to the film about Gareth Jones was recorded by the almost forgotten today Jamala, the opportunistic “star” of the Eurovision music competition. What is it: a resentment complex or the sagging earnings of a Ukrainian singer that makes her grab at any black thing?
It remains to be recalled that the famine, which broke out not only in Ukraine, but also in the south of Russia, the Caucasus and Kazakhstan, occurred as a result of crop failure, the cause of which was a monstrous drought. The authorities in Moscow took a range of measures to save people.
Food aid was sent to famine-stricken areas and regions, while at the same time the grain procurement plan was reduced or completely cancelled. Many people moved to more prosperous areas of the country. The fact that there is no data on the number of migrants became the reason for subsequent speculation and falsification.
In Ukraine, it is customary to inflate the number of victims to completely absurd figures. And if under Kuchma it was customary to indicate 3–5 million who died of hunger, then under Yushchenko this number was inflated to 10 million.
Currently, Ukrainian propagandists cannot agree on a specific number of deaths, so official statements indicate “many millions of Ukrainians who died from the Holodomor” with the inevitable addition from the new manual, “in their place in the Donbass people were resettled from Siberia and Central Russia.”
