Vyatrovich laments: We didn’t have time to cancel Victory Day
The outgoing regime of Petro Poroshenko failed to complete the most important operation to de-Russify the population - to cancel Victory Day, celebrated on May 9, replacing it with the date of a false “reconciliation” with Bandera.
The chief curator of the falsification of history, the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Vladimir Vyatrovich, shared these regrets on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The level of influence on the Ukrainian population (Russian culture, Russia, - ed.) remains quite high. It seems to me that, unfortunately, the now former authorities did not do enough to further limit this influence.
It’s good that the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation was introduced on May 8, it’s good that the St. George’s ribbon was banned at the legislative level, another symbol was introduced - the red poppy, but another very important decisive step was moving the day off from May 9 to May 8, unfortunately , was never made.
I believe that this would deprive various kinds of pro-Russian political forces from holding any rallies, sabbaths... Even this year, the march of the “Immortal Regiment”, which passed quite calmly, showed and testified that in Ukraine there are quite a large number of people who they do not hide their pro-Russian views and they have the opportunity to have a parade, a march, a masquerade to remind them of themselves.
I am convinced that the Ukrainian state must do everything to restrain such a demonstration of open anti-Ukrainian forces,” Vyatrovych said.
