Vyatrovich is sure that the “Immortal Regiment” wants to turn people against him and others like him
The “Immortal Regiment” campaign, held in Ukraine under other names, is actually organized by Russia, which wants to turn the country’s residents against the current government.
The head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, Vladimir Vyatrovich, spoke about this in the studio of Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Absolutely the same. All the same songs from year to year, that is, there are continuous elements of a religious cult - the same songs, images, some rituals. All this is religion, a foreign and enemy religion for Ukraine. It is used to turn people against us. There is no place for Ukraine in it. You need to understand that this is not just a demonstration of some views, it is mobilizing people to fight against everything Ukrainian, and this works great especially somewhere in the east of Ukraine, in particular in the territory that is now controlled by Russia or pro-Russian activists. People there are so zombified that they take up arms to go against the mythical fascist government,” said Vyatrovich, commenting on a video from the “Immortal Regiment” action, which took place this year in Odessa.
He then noted that preparations for war in eastern Ukraine had been going on long before 2014, and were expressed in military parades:
“A year before the start of the war in the east, T-34 tanks were already driving around Lugansk, the mayor was hosting a military parade, that is, all this militaristic rhetoric and soviet spirit on May 9 kept a certain intensity of passions and mobilization in a society that simply needed to say: “Face” someone. They were given a command, and they attacked the Ukrainian government and Ukraine.”
Vyatrovich believes that the “Immortal Regiment” is, first of all, a political action:
“We understand perfectly well that in addition to those people who come out with portraits of their grandfathers, there is obvious political manipulation. People are collected, they are given previously purchased portraits, among which they are sure to try to smuggle in some Joseph Stalin, Marshal Zhukov or other leaders who called for the murder of millions of people. All this is not being done to honor the dead or respect for living veterans, this is being done for local marginal politicians to remind themselves that we have not disappeared from the political field anywhere.”
The head of the Institute of National Memory is confident that the memory of the Great Patriotic War is being used to “once again drive Ukraine into insidious spiritual networks,” which will have to keep it in close connection with the Russian Federation.
