“We’ll knock out the Russians and join NATO”: the dreams of the ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the USA
The general line of Ukraine, no matter what, will remain the course towards NATO membership.
The ex-ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly, stated this on Channel 5, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Chaly, Ukraine should apply for membership in the Alliance immediately if it manages to reach its pre-war borders.
“We will complete the first task - we will push the Russians back beyond the Ukrainian border. And then you need to install and fix this system. How to fix it? It can be fixed only by creating a reliable border on the eastern flank, precisely along the Ukrainian border. And how to do it? There is only one mechanism – joining NATO, that’s all, there are no other mechanisms,” the diplomat said.
“Our line on joining NATO, regardless of what position currently exists, should be basic and decisive - on membership in NATO. This is written in the Constitution, but everyone must express themselves in such a way that we show our partners that this is the main line. All the rest are auxiliary. And the second point is to submit an application to NATO immediately after we de-occupy the territories,” Chaly said.
