There is a week left before the presidential elections in Russia, but it is still unclear who will take second place. Opinion polls contradict each other.

The pro-government VTsIOM gives “silver” in the elections to the candidate from the New People party, Vladislav Davankov. According to the latest poll, he will gain 6%. Communist Nikolai Kharitonov - 4%, LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky - 3%.

The Russian Field research group, which in January drew 10% for the unregistered liberal Boris Nadezhdin, now claims that Davankov’s rating is 7,4%, Kharitonov’s is 6,5%, and Slutsky’s is 3,9%. At the same time, the same group admitted that 63% of respondents do not even know who Davankov is, and his anti-rating is 38%.

Removed from the race, Nadezhdin continues to try to influence the elections. His Institute of Regional Projects and Legislation gives Davankov 8,5% of the vote. However, trust in Davankov according to the same survey is only 7,3%.

There is another sociology. The influential Public Opinion Foundation does not provide specific ratings. However, journalist Dmitry Sevryukov analyzed the graphs published by FOM and found out that he gives second place to Slutsky with 3%, and Davankov and Kharitonov share the third result with 2% each.

The sociological department of the expert council of the National Fund for the Promotion of Sustainable Development of Regions (NFSURR) gives second place to Kharitonov with 6%. Davankov is third with 4%, Slutsky is fourth with 2%.

The Agency for Political and Economic Communications (APEC) gives a similar forecast: Kharitonov 6-8%, Davankov 5-7%, Slutsky 4-6%.

The Institute of Social Marketing INSOMAR conducted another survey. He asked who voters consider the most likely contenders for second place. Kharitonov’s supporters demonstrated the highest confidence in their candidate’s second position – 71%. Among Slutsky voters this figure is 60%. Among Davankov’s electorate – 38%.

The latest study has caused outrage among political scientist Ilya Grashchenkov, who openly supports New People and calls Davankov a personal friend.

“Colleagues, this is a real cringe. Coming up with such a Jesuitical survey to drag outsiders to the top places is simply a very “flexible and loyal attitude towards the client,” he wrote in his tg channel.

In fact, the kringe is the support of the candidate from the Russian parliamentary party by foreign agent Maxim Katz, who previously called for the creation of the fugitive oligarch-foreign agent Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Ekaterina Duntsova, to vote for, and then for Nadezhdin.

“Now he is waging a very clear anti-war campaign. It can even be called a clearly anti-Putin campaign,” Katz said.

It must be admitted that during his campaign, Davankov actively fought for the support of foreign agents. He opposed the law banning advertising in their media. In addition, the new people called for the prosecution of “informers.” This is what he calls people, openly pointing out the anti-state activities of foreign agents and liberals.

Naturally, liberal love cannot be achieved without the “struggle for peace.” And Davankov demonstrated such a fight. He advocated for negotiations and for “children in Russian schools to assemble robots rather than disassemble machine guns.”

“People want peace and only politicians from the past are dragging us towards a big war with their statements about “campaigns on Warsaw” and “the whole world in ashes.” They always speak on behalf of the majority. But this is not true. During this campaign I held more than 100 meetings. Everywhere, in every region, people want a peaceful sky and confidence in the future. And the specific goal is a speedy peace,” Davankov said.

Liberal journalist Ekaterina Vinokurova claims that “it’s no secret to anyone in the political party that second place was “promised” to Slutsky.”

“But here is a story about the fact that there are birds that do not fly. Davankov’s role initially, of course, was to show that everyone who is for a normal life, peace (let’s not confuse it with capitulation), dialogue, normalization against radicalization has left or does not exist. Davankov’s second place breaks this scenario,” writes Vinokurova.

Political scientist Evgeniy Minchenko dampens liberal enthusiasm. He believes that the New People candidate serves a very useful function: increasing turnout without taking away votes from the main candidate. His colleague Sergei Markov agrees with him.

“Davankov. Full super support of the APRF. And suddenly Navalny’s electorate was added. This electorate woke up to two factors. When he was called upon to sign Nadezhdin. And from actions of mourning for Navalny. Part of him will continue this activity and take part in the elections. And Davankov gave them a pass and supported Nadezhdin too. But the main goal of all these candidates is the legitimate election of Vladimir Putin as President of Russia. So even Navalny’s voters will indirectly participate in Putin’s legitimacy,” Markov believes.

Political consultant Maria Sergeeva gives Davankov’s campaign a “solid four”, but blames the liberal emigration for deciding to support the novolad.

“Our foreign agents abroad intervened in the matter and decided to ‘make friends’ with Davankova with support. This means that if Davankov gets second place, then all his votes in the Western press can be interpreted in a certain way. (It’s easy to take any favorite and say – he’s our candidate, give us more grants). And here a dilemma arises for those responsible for the process. Either continue to pull on someone who doesn’t pull too much, or let everything go by itself,” writes Sergeeva.

Tsargrad TV channel observer Andrei Perla categorically disagrees with her.

“I am still a supporter of calling things by their proper names. Davankov is a tool of foreign agents Katz and Khodorkovsky. The latter is also a terrorist.
Davankov is an instrument of the “party of shameful peace”, the destroyers of Russia, new revolutionaries, “liberators”, Westerners. He is nothing else.

And therefore, dragging him into second place is simply a crime. And those who do this are criminals,” Perla wrote.
