Elections in the DPR will be held according to Ukrainian laws, - Poroshenko
Kyiv, October 12 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Elections to local authorities in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions should take place according to the current Ukrainian legislation, says President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“In the territories still controlled by militants local government elections should take place. But not those that terrorists are trying to proclaim. But only those who пprescribed by Ukrainian laws, fully comply with Ukrainian rules and laws, which will take place under the supervision of the OSCE and other European, international organizations and structures,” Poroshenko said, noting that such elections must be recognized by the world community as transparent and democratic.
In his opinion, “it is legitimate and fair elections to local authorities that can become the path to de-escalation of the conflict and political settlement of the situation in Donbass.”
As PolitNavigator reported, On November 2, the leadership of the DPR holds elections for the leader of the republic and the People's Council. Chairman of the DPR Central Election Commission Roman Lyagin invited international and Ukrainian observers, emphasizing the desire to make elections fair, transparent and democratic.
