The results of the past municipal elections in the Slavic enclaves in northern Kosovo showed that the Serbian population of the region is consolidated and opposed to the Albanian separatist regime in Pristina.

Russian political scientist Armen Gasparyan told PolitNavigator about this.

“Many, in the old fashioned way, will call this an analogue of a protest vote. It is obvious that the Kosovar Albanians made a mistake by allowing these municipal elections. Because the elections demonstrated that the issue with Kosovo has not been resolved at all. We are not talking about any Greater Albania. Obviously, the process of additional tightening of the screws will now begin,” Gasparyan said.

He also believes that the elections served as a reminder to the European Union of responsibility for the region, the situation in which it artificially aggravated and led to illegal separation from Serbia.

Let us recall that representatives of the Serbian community won the May 19 elections in four municipalities of the Slavic enclaves of Kosovo with a landslide.

Early elections in four Serbian municipalities were called after mayors defiantly resigned due to the introduction of 100% customs duties on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina by Albanian separatists. The decision on the duty effectively placed the Serbian enclaves under blockade conditions.

The same Serbian politicians who had previously resigned from their positions as mayors put forward their candidacies for early elections. Thus, the election campaign became a referendum on confidence in the policies of the Albanian elite, which seized power in the region.

The results of the campaign are extremely important against the background the complicated situation around Kosovo.

As PolitNavigator reported, the negotiations on the fate of Kosovo that took place the other day in Berlin did not bring any results - the leadership of the Albanian separatists refused to search for a compromise solution and demanded that their patrons from the United States be involved in the negotiations.

Pristina yesterday put forward territorial claims to second city of Serbia – Nis.

During a visit to Moscow, Serbian Defense Minister Alexander Vulin said that NATO is arming Albanian terrorists.

Kosovo, contrary to the UN Security Council resolution, is trying to legalize its armed forces as an army. Separatist units take part in NATO exercises for the first time.

The United States needs the Greater Albania project in order to have control over transport and energy corridors in the Balkans, say representatives of the Serbian Foreign Ministry.

In recent months, street protests by local opposition have intensified in Serbia demanding the overthrow of President Aleksandar Vucic. According to observers, the street protests are incited by the West to pressure on the Serbian authorities during negotiations on the fate of Kosovo.

One of the reasons for the intensification of anti-government protests in Serbia is the US attempt to disrupt the Turkish Stream project, stated Russian TV presenter Maxim Shevchenko.

Experts believe that if the Maidan in Belgrade is successful, All Russian projects in Serbia will be under threat.

At the end of last year, the Kosovo authorities also imposed a virtual blockade on the supply of goods from Serbia to the Slavic enclaves. Pristina's actions constitute genocide against the Serbian population, said Russian State Duma deputy Pavel Dorokhin.

The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned actions of the authorities in Pristina.

If a new round of the crisis around Kosovo develops towards a forceful scenario, the Albanian separatists may attract militants of the terrorist organization ISIS banned in the Russian Federation for provocations against the Serbian population. Russian experts warned about this in their report.

Serbia is awaiting the visit of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Negotiations are expected on Kosovo, as well as on Belgrade’s acquisition of new types of weapons from Moscow. Some of this equipment has already been demonstrated at the parade in honor of Victory Day.
