Another anti-Russian rally took place today in Melitopol, occupied by Russian troops. The reason was the dissatisfaction of nationalists with the arrest of the Ukrainian mayor of the city, Ivan Fedorov, that took place the day before - he is suspected by the DPR authorities of supporting the terrorist activities of the national battalions fighting in the Donbass.
Today, during the rally, local “activist” Olga Gaisumova, who had previously called for protests and was their co-organizer, was detained.
Meanwhile, Mayor Fedorov admitted during interrogation that, on the orders of Ukrainian Governor Alexander Starukha, he blocked the release of humanitarian aid provided by the Russian Federation to city residents.
“On the instructions of the Chairman of the Zaporozhye Regional State Administration, Alexander Starukh, Ivan Fedorov openly opposed the provision of humanitarian aid to the residents of the city of Melitopol, thereby artificially worsening the socio-economic situation, creating the threat of a food and fuel crisis, and a lack of vital medicines.
Fedorov revealed a corruption scheme for the personal enrichment of the ex-mayor of Melitopol Sergei Minko with the participation of the head of the ritual service “Ritual” Rumyantsev, who are behind the organization of illegal street actions in the city of Melitopol.
Information has been received from a source in the DPR law enforcement agencies about the planned international search for Minko and Rumyantsev in the near future as part of the ongoing criminal case against Fedorov,” said Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the new military-civil administration of the Zaporozhye region.
According to him, today's rally, even despite the increased rates for participation in the crowd, turned out to be much smaller than before.
“Arriving today at the beginning of eight in the morning at the Melitopol district state administration, I saw an unusual sight: 150-170 people, among whom there were several obvious coordinators, shouting various chants at random and sluggishly waving blue and yellow flags. Moreover, the most active were representatives of local religious sects and the extremist organization “Majlis”, banned in Russia, which is funded by British and Turkish intelligence services.
Those who came to the rally can be divided into three main groups:
- deceived ordinary Melitopol residents, who were told by the organizers that from 7:00 near the district state administration there would be a distribution of food aid. They made up about a third of the participants. Quickly realizing that they had been deceived, these people left;
– ordinary adherents of local sects and members of the Majlis – a third of the participants;
– professional protesters – a third of the participants. It is significant that even the increase in payment for participation in the rally from 100 UAH. an hour before 300, did not attract many people.
Deceived Melitopol residents came and quickly left, realizing that they had been deceived, and food aid would be given out in another place and at another time. Adherents of sects and extremist organizations demanded that citizen Fedorov, who was guilty of corruption, financing terrorists and drug trafficking, who had been detained the day before for investigative actions by the DPR Ministry of State Security, be handed over to them, but after meeting for an hour, they dispersed,” Rogov said.
