People's Deputy from Batkivshina Ivan Krulko stated this during a round table in Kyiv.
According to him, the Memorandum, which was signed by Ukraine and the IMF, contains strict conditions for the provision of a loan, including the closure of rural schools, the reduction of medical institutions and vocational schools.
“Next year, the Pension Fund deficit will be set at UAH 145 billion. This is more than medicine, science, and education combined. It is envisaged to increase the retirement age, increase contributions from citizens’ income to the pension fund and more stringent conditions for retiring in general and receiving at least a minimum pension,” he noted.
The people's deputy also spoke about what the authorities are planning, in agreement with the IMF, in order to reduce education costs.
“Further optimization of the school network by closing small schools and transferring students to better equipped schools.” These are rural schools. Imagine what happens to a village when a school closes? The village is dying. “Promotion of private financing of higher and vocational educational institutions.” That is, they plan to launch vocational schools not for state orders. This is the Memorandum that has been signed. On its basis, the IMF board of directors issued money yesterday,” says the politician.
The outlook for health care is not very bright either.
“On health care, there are plans to transfer all health care institutions to local budgets. Including unique ones, which are the only ones in Ukraine,” Krulko said.
