Journalist Elena Boyko, expelled from Russia for violating immigration laws, who gained fame thanks to her participation in a talk show, was allowed to be released on bail after almost a year in prison in Lvov, where the deportee was from.
“Yesterday, thanks to the professionalism of the famous lawyer Svetlana Novitskaya, the court changed Elena’s preventive measure to bail,” said Kiev human rights activist Elena Berezhnaya.
The court set the bail amount at 160 thousand hryvnia, which is about 6400 US dollars. Now the defense and relatives of Boyko announced a fundraiser.
