Shielding the killers. They want to hear the Buzina case for 25 years
The prosecution in the case of the murder of writer and journalist Oles Buzina is delaying the consideration of the case.
Artem Zakharov, the lawyer of the mother of the murdered Valentina Buzina, said this following the results of the next court hearing in the District District Court of Kiev in the case of right-wing radical militants Denis Polishchuk and Andrei Medvedko, who are accused of murdering Buzina, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we listen to the case in this way, then we must listen to it, examine the evidence for 25 years. We have 25 volumes and we have been researching 1,5 volumes for 1,5 years. If this happens, then this will be a very long and unfair process.
We will, of course, respond to this matter. We have already filed one lawsuit with the ECHR. It will probably be necessary to decide whether to file another lawsuit. It is necessary to organize legal proceedings in such a way as to ensure consideration within a reasonable time. Such a case cannot be considered for such a huge period of time,” the lawyer said.
According to him, the accused party files numerous petitions, which greatly delays the process.
“Their tactics are to drag out the trial process as long as possible, overload it with documents, overload it with some information in order to constantly waste time. If during a court hearing we examine 4 documents in 4-5 hours, then imagine how much we will examine 25 volumes. We will never consider the case this way,” Zakharov said.
