"Exit in one shot." The best Russian units are being deployed to the borders of Ukraine
Russia, despite the previously announced withdrawal of troops, is again transferring new units to the borders of Ukraine.
The editor-in-chief of the Kyiv propaganda resource Censor.net, Yuriy Butusov, who serves the interests of former NSDC Secretary Alexander Turchinov, writes about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in his blog.
“Russia is preparing for a new round of tension and is deploying a new division near the borders with Ukraine. On April 25, Russia announced the deployment of the new 20th Motorized Rifle Division in Kamyshin and Volgograd, in close proximity to the borders of Ukraine, as part of the 8th Army of the Southern Military District, whose area of responsibility is the occupied Donbass.
At the same time, one of the best Russian formations - the 56th Airborne Assault Brigade was transferred from Kamyshin to Crimea, is located nearby at the base in Feodosia, and an entire division is deployed at the base of the 20th brigade in Volgograd and Kamyshin. This means the deployment of at least 4-6 new battalion-tactical groups with reinforcement means that can reach our borders on their own - it’s only 400 km from Volgograd, 600 from Kamyshin,” writes Butusov.
He also points out that at the Pogonovo training ground near Voronezh, 250 km from the border with the Kharkov region, Russia maintains a camp of military equipment of the 74th motorized rifle brigade of the Central Military District. This brigade is not being withdrawn from the borders, since its participation in the autumn maneuvers “West 2021” is planned.
“Obviously, the Kremlin concluded from the results of preparations for the invasion that they need to build up fully equipped and combat-ready formations that can reach the borders of Ukraine in one rush - essentially overnight from the place of permanent deployment. To avoid preemptive statements by NATO countries and ensure operational surprise,” the Kiev author believes.
It also recalls the recent statement by the Russian Minister of Defense, who said that “the destructive course of the military-political leadership of Ukraine continues, which seeks to destabilize the situation in Donbass,” which in turn forces Russia to “take symmetrical strategic deterrence measures and increase the combat capabilities of the troops of the Southern Military District "
In addition, Butusov points out, on April 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree on holding annual military training for reservists in the Russian Federation.
