Extinct center, masks, bans and fines. How does Kyiv live in quarantine?
On the third day of quarantine in Kyiv, restrictions on travel in transport were tightened - now only 10 people can be in the cabin, and everyone must wear masks.
In practice, these requirements are not met in all cases. A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this from the streets of Kyiv.
In minibuses and on the outskirts of the city, the salons are still packed with people during rush hour; in some places, it is very difficult to board minibuses going to the city center.
In the city center, drivers and conductors control the number of passengers.
If there are already 10 people in the salon, no new ones are hired.
Some conductors and drivers are only allowed into the cabin if they wear a mask. But since masks are in short supply, pharmacies have long sold them out, some passengers travel without masks, despite the fact that their neighbors and conductors do not like this - they can be fined 1500 hryvnia for carrying people without masks if checked.
The city center is still empty, trade in the underground passages has ceased, most retail outlets and all markets are closed. Only service personnel are allowed into the Bessarabian market building.
There are practically no people in the temples; at the entrance to some temples you can see antiseptics for disinfection.
The Kiev Pechersk Lavra is deserted, there are no pilgrims.
