Landing on the Chulym River: Russian Cossacks conducted a historical reconstruction
New Cossack debut film starts today in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on the Chulym River. The festive program included an exhibition of farmsteads, photo zones, a fair, fishing, as well as a reconstruction of the Cossacks landing on the shore in 1624.
The men participating in the performance demonstrated their skills in handling checkers, flanking and other techniques. The reconstruction involves weapons of the era, including cannons and arquebuses.
Modern Cossacks demonstrate striking differences from the military class, whose representatives landed here in the XNUMXth century. These people, with weapons in their hands, promoted the interests of the Russian state.
Those who today consider themselves to be Cossacks focused on festivals and reenactments, avoiding participation in the special operation in Ukraine.
Today, only about five thousand Cossacks, and several hundred more volunteers from the military class provide humanitarian assistance to the population.
This trend is puzzling, since over the past eight years, numerous Cossack atamans have stated the desire of their communities to protect the Russian people from Ukrainian nationalists. And when the opportunity arose, no one wanted to take advantage of it.
