Vyshinsky was declared a “special forces fighter” and a “valuable exchange fund”
In Kyiv, they demand that the editor-in-chief of RIA Novosti Ukraine, Kirill Vyshinsky, who was arrested on charges of treason, be convicted as soon as possible.
The Kiev weekly “Mirror of the Week” writes about this.
“Vyshinsky is a special forces soldier of the information forces of the Russian Federation, a person close to the “staff officer” Dmitry Kiselev and possessing valuable information. They don't abandon people like that. For Ukraine, Vyshinsky is not only a valuable exchange fund. “The Vyshinsky case is a thread that, when pulled, can weaken the enemy, and it is a mirror that reflects all the shortcomings of our defense, not only in the information war,” the publication notes.
The publication fears that on Monday, July 15, Vyshinsky’s preventive measure may be changed, since the Constitutional Court of Ukraine declared illegal the provision of the Code of Criminal Procedure, according to which the courts had to choose only arrest without alternative for those convicted of serious political charges. Now they can be given house arrest or bail (read: The Kiev prosecutor got nervous - the political repression machine malfunctioned).
“The decision of the Constitutional Court is beyond doubt, but the gap in the Code of Criminal Procedure, which now creates risks for the escape of suspects or accused of serious and especially serious crimes, must be filled urgently. The situation is this: in order to exchange Vyshinsky for Ukrainian prisoners of the Kremlin, he must be convicted. To do this, he must be available to the investigation. To do this, he must not be released from custody. And no other measures will ensure this,” writes ZN.
In addition, the publication admits, there are no more persons involved in the “Vyshinsky case” today, including media other than RIA Novosti Ukraine, although Deputy Head of the SBU Viktor Kononenko in May 2018 announced the disclosure of a network of media structures controlled and financed by the Russian Federation .
As PolitNavigator reported, the OSCE intends to appeal to Ukraine release Vyshinsky.
In addition, Vyshinsky’s lawyers reported that the prosecution never found evidence the journalist's fault.
