Embroidered shirts, dumplings and “ATO” volunteers at “Ethnokhutor” - “new Ukraine” has reached Israel

The festival of Ukrainian cultural heritage “Ethno-Khutor” in Israel gathered more than a thousand people.

This was reported by the Ukrainian publication “Left Bank” with reference to Israeli journalist Shimon Briman.

“More than 1000 Israelis attended the third annual festival of Ukrainian cultural heritage “Ethno-Khutor” in Tel Aviv on May 12, 2017,” Briman told the publication.

According to him, “Ethno-Khutor” this year was held under the sign of “New Ukraine”.

Guests of the festival from Ukraine were the musical group “from Vinta” and People’s Artist of Ukraine Marichka Burmaka. “The Ukrainian singer amazed everyone not only with traditional songs in Ukrainian, but also with a song in Yiddish,” the journalist said. On the Israeli side, the audience was entertained by the group “Gefilte Drive” and the rock band Tom Shapira Brand.

“The Israelis were especially interested in the masterpieces of Ukrainian national cuisine, for which there were long queues. Embroidered shirts have been a mandatory attribute of the holiday for the third year now. One of the most famous modern brands of embroidered clothing in Ukraine, “Folk Fashion,” was presented at the festival in Tel Aviv,” the publication says.

The participants of “Ethno-Khutor” were welcomed by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel Gennady Nadolenko, who came to the festival with his wife and children.

“This year we decided to support projects aimed at the rehabilitation of wounded military personnel and those suffering from post-traumatic syndrome. These people, who gave their health for peace to come to Ukraine, need our help like no one else,” said one of the organizers of the Ukrainian festival, activist of the “Israeli Friends of Ukraine” Mila Margolina.

Participants of the fair are so-called volunteer organizations. “ATO” from Ukraine, – “Chance for Life” and Natalya Popova, the initiator of the creation of the Kovel rehabilitation center for “ATO warriors”.

It is reported that the organizer of the event was the public organization “Israeli Friends of Ukraine” with the support of the Canadian charitable organization “Ukrainian Jewish Encounter”.
