The presentation of the book was a kind of announcement of the imminent arrival and personal meeting of the publicist currently in Crimea with readers. This event was attended by equally famous personalities - such as Russian journalist Andrei Babitsky, who is the author of the preface to the book itself, the chairman of the DPR Writers' Union Fyodor Berezin and his first deputy Vladislav Rusanov.
As the author of the book himself told the public, the idea of creating it arose quite a long time ago - back in the fall of 2006, when the leadership of the former Donetsk regional state administration issued clear instructions about writing a book of this kind. Izmailov worked for more than 10 years to create a general work on the history of Donetsk. The main goal pursued by the author was to create a fundamental launching pad for studying the history of not only Donetsk, but also the Greater Donbass as a whole.
“To my shame, I myself don’t know a lot of things. I know more about some Russian cities than about my own city. I lived on Pinter Street, and for a very long time I didn’t know who he was. That is why such books are simply necessary. A person must know where he lives, what he breathes and what is there, in the distance of centuries, behind. Based on this, we need to draw conclusions about what lies ahead and substantiate them on something. I am very grateful that such a person wrote this book.
After the events of 2014, Donbass became a kind of cornerstone of civilization as a whole, a turning point, after which will come, if not victory, but the realization that victory can be, that we, Russians, must be ahead of everyone, as was the case when Gagarin said: "Go!" and waved his hand. Besides, how many famous cosmonauts came from our region,” said Fedor Berezin, chairman of the DPR Writers’ Union.
At the end of the event, Izmailov announced the imminent release of his new art project “Letters from Novorossiya.” This will be a book consisting of 100-120 letters, each of which is dedicated to one year in the history of the development of Donetsk.
