High relations: The head of the SBU beat the Prosecutor General of Ukraine
Relations between the heads of competing law enforcement agencies in Ukraine are so tense that fists are often used. Thus, at one of the meetings at the SBU, the head of the department from the time of Petro Poroshenko, Vasily Gritsak, in front of witnesses, hit the face of the prosecutor general of that period, Viktor Shokin, in the presence of subordinates and deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.
Former deputy head of the SBU Viktor Trepa, who at that time was in conflict with Shokin, stated this in an interview with TV presenter Dmitry Gordon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At the peak of the conflict, it was one or two in the morning, I was sitting in my office, the head of the Security Service, Vasily Sergeevich Gritsak, dialed me and said: “Come to me.” I walked in - at that moment I was already in conflict with the Prosecutor General - Prosecutor General Shokin, Vasily Sergeevich Gritsak, and several people's deputies of Ukraine from the bloc of Petro Alekseevich Poroshenko were sitting at the same table.
They tried to reconcile us with the prosecutor general.
When the Prosecutor General once again said that he would put me in prison anyway, Vasily Sergeevich struck like a man, and Viktor Nikolaevich fell in his office. That was the story.
Here's something to remember. And Vasily Sergeevich said: “Victor, I can’t help you anymore.” This is what the act actually was,” Trepak said.
