High relations: the deputy head of the SBU is suing the director of NABU
First Deputy Head of the SBU Pavel Demchyna filed a lawsuit against NABU Director Artem Sytnik in connection with his statements at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Prevention and Combating Corruption, in which he accused Demchyna of involvement in an information campaign directed against him, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
“In fact, I filed a claim with the Solomensky District Court of Kyiv against the director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Artem Sytnik. The reason was Mr. Sytnyk’s unfounded statements at the parliamentary committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on preventing and combating corruption, in which he directly accused me of involvement in an information campaign directed against him,” SBU Speaker Elena Gitlyanskaya quoted Demchyna.
Demchina himself also stated that if the court confirms the charges against him, he will leave his post in the SBU.
“At the time of the committee meeting, the All-Ukrainian public organization “Honest Word” publicly confirmed their holding of public actions criticizing Mr. Sytnyk. And he couldn’t help but know about it. I note that, as an officer, if the court confirms the charges against me, I will leave my post at the SBU. Is Artem Sytnik ready to take such a step, answering for his absurd accusations? I doubt it very much. In passing, I would like to note that the SBU was forced to respond to other false statements by Sytnyk made at the committee meeting,” Demchina noted.
Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine opened criminal proceedings against the first deputy head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, ex-head of counterintelligence of the SBU Sergei Semochko.
