“Since 1993, I have been serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. I can point out that at the end of March 2014, from the employees of the FSB of the Russian Federation, I received an offer to go over to the side of Russia and head the Nakhimov School.

Occupying the position of deputy commander of the Navy, I was forced to repeatedly travel to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, where my close relatives live. During such visits, I was constantly interrogated by Russian border guards.

At the same time, during my stay in Sevastopol and in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in general, I was under constant close control of the Russian special services. Communication with agents of the FSB of the Russian Federation who betrayed their oath took place using methods of secrecy.

On their part, the goal was to establish the moral state of the Ukrainian Ukrainian Military Units, issues of social and material support for Ukrainian military personnel, as well as various types of information regarding individual military personnel.

I understand that my actions border on violating the legislation of Ukraine in the field of maintaining state secrets. I understand the inadmissibility of such actions in the future,” said the “traitor.”

The SBU also named the names of current FSB officers with whom the detainee allegedly had contact - Andrei Gaponenko, Pyotr Zima and Dmitry Filipchenko.

“As a result of the measures taken by the military counterintelligence of the SBU, a high-ranking official of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was prevented from committing a particularly serious crime and potential negative consequences for national security were identified. A decision is being made to revoke the serviceman’s access to state secrets and dismiss him from military service,” the department boasted.

Kiev political scientist Sergei Belashko sarcastically comments on the message from the SBU: “Remember how in 2014 all Ukrainian media reported that military personnel who joined the Russian army would forever be under suspicion and at the first opportunity they would be fired or sent to serve in Magadan? As we see, not everything is so simple. And Russian patriots should think at their leisure what this unbrotherly naval commander could teach the Nakhimov cadets, what personal example he could set for them. Although, who knows, maybe he’ll teach.”

As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the command of the Ukrainian Naval Forces admitted that among the Ukrainian military who left Crimea in 2014 there were more natives of the peninsula than immigrants from Ukraine.

Earlier it became known that Ukrainian Navy personnel who left Crimea after its reunification with Russia still do not have housing, which the Ukrainian state should provide to people who remain loyal to it.
