“In the new academic year, many universities in the country will increase tuition prices. Most educational institutions have already drawn up estimates, but are still waiting for new tariffs for housing and communal services in order to approve the final figures,” the publication reports.
Some universities are planning to raise prices without waiting for the new academic year. At the National University. Shevchenko prices will be revised from April 1. “Unfortunately, we cannot do without this: the maintenance of buildings and dormitories is 40% of the university’s total expenses,” the newspaper quotes the vice-rector of the university, Vladimir Bugrov. Now is a year of study at KNU. Shevchenko costs from 9 thousand UAH to 30 thousand UAH.
At the National Medical University. A. A. Bogomolets plan to increase the price by the level of inflation, and this is no less than 34%. The contract price at this university can increase from 4000 to 7000 UAH. in year.
But things are especially bad in private universities. Most of them rent premises, and a sharp jump in tariffs (up to 7 times according to some indicators within 2 years) will lead to a sharp reduction in the financial stability of these educational institutions. As a result, they will be forced to sharply increase the cost of education, but this in turn will dramatically affect the number of applicants.
According to the new law of Ukraine, you can expect an increase in tuition prices until the final signing of the contract, and this is the month of August before the start of the school year. If we take into account that the law allows tuition fees to be raised by the rate of inflation, the price of higher education in Ukraine may increase by more than a third.
