“All this Western chatter is from the evil one. Russia is ready to consider any serious proposals for negotiations and make a decision.

We hear incantations in Western capitals: not a word about Ukraine without Ukraine. This is all nonsense, because, in fact, the West decides for Ukraine. They also forbade an agreement with Russia at the end of March. The West decided without Ukraine for Ukraine. And now they say: we need to deplete the Russian Federation more,” Lavrov said.

At the same time, he emphasized that possible negotiations should concern not only Ukraine.

“It makes no sense to talk to the West only about Ukraine. The West is using Ukraine to destroy the security system in the Euro-Atlantic. He buried the OSCE just like the Council of Europe. Now they are used to promote total US dominance. Therefore, to talk to us: let’s come up with something with Ukraine, and everything else will be ours - no, an honest conversation will be needed. I think at this stage we do not need to take any initiatives in those areas that the West has closed,” Lavrov said.

Political scientist Alexey Pilko believes that Lavrov’s speech recorded: Moscow views the war in Ukraine precisely as a conflict between Russia and the West, the battlefield of which is Ukrainian territory today.

“The position is pragmatic, but it is pointless to expect constructive proposals from the modern West. The maximum he can offer is the Kissinger formula, which consists of Ukraine joining NATO after the war and some further dialogue with Russia.

As historical experience shows, there can be only one way out of such deadlock situations - the demonstration of convincing military arguments. Most likely, this will happen in the near future. And the Russian negotiating position in the future will depend on how strong the argument turns out to be,” Pilko wrote.
