Moscow - Kyiv, July 21 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Ten wounded Ukrainian army soldiers rescued from artillery shelling on the border by the Russians say they did not shoot at civilians in Donbass. But just in case, they were isolated from the refugees housed in the same hospital.

“Severely wounded servicemen remain in the hospital in Gukovo. Those who received minor injuries were transported to the hospital in the neighboring city of Zverevo,” Vasily Malaev, head of the press service of the FSB border service department for the Rostov region, told Kommersant.

In Zverevo, a small mining town 20 km from Gukovo, ten wounded Ukrainian soldiers were placed in the surgical ward of the local hospital. The adjacent building, a former infectious diseases department, is occupied by about 70 refugees. To avoid conflicts and contacts between one another, the wounded are guarded by several riot police and an FSB border guard.

“We served in the regular army and have nothing to do with the national guard or volunteer battalions,” says Ivan Pavlov, a shell-shocked soldier of the 72nd motorized brigade. “Four months ago I was mobilized, sent to training, and then to the border, where we were smaller month." According to him, after recovery he will return to Ukraine, but promises not to fight anymore.

Contractor Alexander, who fought for almost three months, says that events developed the same way every day: first, a drone appeared over their positions, and an hour later they began to be fired upon from mortars and Grad missiles. “This happened on July 13, 14 and 15, we, in fact, never saw the enemy,” he says. “One of the shells exploded 3 meters from me, and I regained consciousness already in the medical unit. I want to go home, I have a family in the Kharkov region, there are still two months left before the expiration of the contract, although it is not clear how we ended up here.”

His roommate is from Severodonetsk, Lugansk region, but in recent years he has worked as a doctor in one of the hospitals near Kiev. “We tried to retreat to Krasnopartizansk, but on the way one of the vehicles was blown up by a landmine,” says the fighter. “They couldn’t send helicopters for us. Then the border guards reached an agreement with Russia, KrAZ trucks arrived and took us to Gukovo.”
