View from Moscow: Yura, we are improving!

So the birthday of the first cosmonaut of the Earth no longer passes under the sad slogan “Yura! We're all screwed!" They write: “Yura, we have corrected ourselves!” And all because Crimea is ours. This is what is meant and nothing else.

Crimea is the best thing that has happened in the life of a Russian person in two and a half post-Soviet decades. (The march of two hundred paratroopers to the Pristina airport does not count here - it was an anomalous ray of light during the rainy season). And in the life of a Soviet man, who is for peace and friendship between peoples, this is also the best. Moreover, the authorities approved going to the rally with a poster, and the grandfathers actually fought there. Mine fought near Sevastopol, which was not then the “Bilokamiyan capital of Ukrainian sailors.” There were no instructions to the people regarding Novorossiya, but in their minds, as they say, the process has begun.
Life has not become better, but life has become more fun. With the return of Crimea, Parmesan disappeared, but “our own pride” appeared. Which has nothing to do with drunken courage at the resort, when “they hung a lot of lyulya on the 9th!”, and other memories of a bright yesterday. People became uninterested in Eurovision (well, except for Milonov); Pugacheva’s sex life almost stopped being discussed.
The attitude towards Crimea has become a clear marker of “friend or foe”. And it's not even that important why Do you support the return of the peninsula or do you not support it? Is Crimea ours? Yes, sure! – and then we can argue about empire, Russians and other Eurasianism. Of course not! – and even the fight against corruption need not be discussed. Why waste time talking with a person who talks about annexation, and considers the saviors of the Fatherland to be figures who at one time gave away government land and mineral resources with ease to the house manager Bunshi from the play of the famous Ukrainian-phobic writer? Of course, there is also the danger of a distorted perception of the picture of the world through a strict division into Maidan and anti-Maidan, but this is still better than a worthless rally on Bolotnaya versus a paid rally on Vorobyovy Gory.
In Crimea itself, not everything is smooth either. Yes, Massandra with two “s” sounds tastier. Yes, children can rest for free at Artek. But, of course, there is no end to the work there. Ukrainian and pro-Ukrainian authors (including those who so happily went to have fun with young “Artek” members) are persistently looking for a speck in the Crimean eye. And they find, they find, fortunately this is not a difficult matter. Crimea has not become a model region in the spirit of those who “enough to feed” within a year. Prices are rising, work is tight, and there are many opportunists in power.
But let me remind you, only a year has passed. One single year. How much time did independent Ukraine have, which did not bring Crimea one iota closer to the bright image painted by Vasily Aksenov?!
Those who today intelligently talk in the media about international law, which Russia violated, and that Ukraine, having taken away Crimea, acted in the “spirit of gang warfare of the 90s”, know very well what Ukraine would have done with Crimea, If “polite people” don’t show up there!
“Crimea will be Ukrainian or deserted” - this was said long before the well-known events. That is, everything non-Ukrainian “had to disappear: either as a result of propaganda and conversion, or through the destruction of God,” to paraphrase Ilyin.
The methods for building a “united region” are well known. These are colorful videos on the box - with wheat fields, clear skies and girls in wreaths - and Odessa, “Lugandon”, “Dombabwe” in real life.
Over the course of the year, it became obvious that Ukraine’s capabilities to return Crimea are approximately equal to the combat capabilities of the famous Zaporozhye submarine, welded to the pier. The bridge has been mined, Dzhemilev is jumping somewhere like a goat. Well, propaganda, which is getting funnier and funnier every day. Just look at Poroshenko’s statement the other day about the return of Ukrainian weapons from Crimea: “We will insist on this and take it away... We must strengthen the border with Crimea.” “And we will strengthen sanctions,” the West continues to tease him, but without the same fervor.
All this is reminiscent of the negotiations between the hunchbacked criminal Karp and Captain Zheglov, when everything has already happened, the lights are on, and the gang is completely blocked. “I’ll bite you with my teeth, Volodenka!” - only Volodenka, bye bye, hid behind an iron door with a portrait of a girl who looked like the Motherland in her youth, and armed himself with a serious trellis.
