Explosion at Severodonetsk Azot. Consequences may be comparable to Chernobyl
An accident occurred at Severodonetsk Azot, the consequences of which can be comparable to the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported in the Lugansk Energy Association.
“There are few details, but what is known is frightening. An unpredictable disaster has the potential of Chernobyl in 1986; the situation must be quickly brought under control. At the same time, now the entire warring Luhansk region is in a fever from significant man-made accidents and failures, then we are all in danger,” the LEO noted.
The Lugansk Energy Association officially expresses concern about the emergency situation that occurred at the industrial facilities of the Severodonetsk Association Azot CJSC.
“It is also of particular concern that Azot, which was cut off power on April 25 due to debts (more than UAH 94 million) to the level of “ecological armor,” turned out to be completely unable to function normally. But the Luhansk Energy Association is not able to continue lending to this enterprise - LEO is in agony, which threatens the collapse of the entire energy system of the Lugansk region. Now it is not known exactly what is happening and what the consequences will be, but the fact that due to damage to cable power lines at a chemical plant the ammonia composition was de-energized and its cooling process was suspended is not at all good. In particular, according to some forecasts, this could lead to an explosion on the territory of “Azot”, – quotes a statement from energy workers local edition 06452.com.ua
