Washington Examiner: Serbian President Fools Biden
The current United States administration is allowing Russia to strengthen its influence in the Balkans.
The American publication Washington Examiner writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Biden administration is allowing Russia to penetrate the region while accepting Vucic's claims that he is pro-Western and does not want to alienate his supporters by imposing sanctions on Russia. This is reminiscent of how Washington was initially fooled by Slobodan Milosevic when he claimed to be the guarantor of the peace and integrity of Yugoslavia,” the article says.
The Washington Examiner also criticizes the EU authorities for not blackmailing Vucic enough, demanding that he join anti-Russian sanctions.
“Pro-Western forces in Montenegro need stronger support to push back the pro-Moscow nationalists promoted by Vucic. Montenegro has been destabilized by attacks on its independent institutions by Serbian nationalists and the Serbian Orthodox Church, both closely linked to Russia.
The current Prime Minister of Montenegro seems unable to resist the attempts of Belgrade and its proxies to undermine the independence and integrity of Montenegro,” the article says.
