The Washington Post published a photo report from the front line of the Kyiv army on the approaches to Donetsk. Ukrainian soldiers sleep on the sofas of their former owners in the village of Peski, cook their own food and cut each other’s hair.

In the so-called “Point 18,” writes the Washington newspaper, a former residential building in the village of Peski, expropriated by Kyiv troops, soldiers of the 93rd brigade settled on the soft sofas of the former owners. A few kilometers away are the DPR troops.
Right in this house, a cook prepares food for them while the soldiers relax, watching Russian news on the computer. In total, there are about 110 soldiers in the Peski village. In the front yard of the former Donetsk residence there is “a series of trenches and firing positions that begin near the garage of the house and extend a hundred yards into the farmland beyond.”
“The trenches are six feet deep and reinforced with fallen birch trees and wood panels to keep them from turning into a swamp when it rains.”
In the house occupied by soldiers of the 7th company, there is a female volunteer; furniture, benches from the yard, belongings and even sun umbrellas used in the cafe were demolished there.
“In May, the trenches were a meter deep,” explains Sasha Bak, a 21-year-old company commander. “And after we lost a soldier under fire, we dug them deeper.”
“Despite the signed Minsk agreements,” the American newspaper writes, “the 7th company of the 93rd brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces spends more than 20000 rounds of ammunition a week - from Kalashnikov assault rifles to 30-mm cannon shells fired from armored personnel carriers.”
