"I shouldn't be objective." Ukrainian minister makes excuses to European journalists
In Kyiv they believe that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will damage the energy security of Europe.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in interview Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba told the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
“Germany has been under pressure for some time, previously it was due to legal and economic reasons. The poisoning of Alexei Navalny leaves a moral imprint on her. The situation is complicated: millions have been invested in the project. I don't envy the Germans for this decision. Our position has always been that the construction of this gas pipeline will damage the energy security of Europe,” Kuleba said.
According to him, Nord Stream 2 focuses on the only main supplier, which is Russia, which runs counter to the European strategy of diversifying suppliers.
“You have gas pipelines with Russia. Why then will it be harmful in the case of Germany? It sounds biased,” the interviewer noted.
“I should not be objective: I am the minister of foreign affairs, not objectivity,” the Ukrainian minister replied. – Gas passing through Nord Stream 2 may well pass through Ukraine. Nobody has to be objective, that’s why I understand Germany.”
