“I don’t want to fight over two boats for the rusty cruiser “Ukraine”
The state of today's Ukraine is reminiscent of the unfinished cruiser of the same name, which has been standing at the quay wall in Nikolaev since the collapse of the Soviet Union, although in 1991 it was more than 90% complete.
Former speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Voloshin stated this on air on channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In my hometown of Nikolaev, the cruiser “Ukraine” has been standing near the quay wall for almost 30 years, which at the time of the collapse of the USSR was considered 93 percent complete.
You don’t have to be a shipbuilder to understand that over these 30 years, enormous efforts have been made to prevent it from sinking right there, near the quay wall.
Unfortunately, in many ways our state resembles this cruiser “Ukraine”. If tomorrow the Supreme Commander-in-Chief gives the command to the cruiser’s crew to take it out to sea, then we understand what will happen, so not a single sane officer will give the command, and the sailor will not carry it out. They want to do approximately the same thing with the state with the introduction of martial law,” Voloshin said.
“As a citizen, a father of two children, I understand that I don’t want a big war, because I’m simply not mentally prepared for it. Moreover, a war for an unknown story in the Kerch Strait, in which I want to understand why boats were sent there in order to surrender them without a fight?” – added the ex-speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
