“I’m not a litter! You are Putin’s litter!” – seizure of Vice Parubiy
During a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, Vice Speaker Irina Gerashchenko threw a tantrum after Tymoshenko’s Sergei Vlasenko called her “little litter,” criticizing her for shielding Petro Poroshenko’s ideas about introducing martial law and postponing the election date, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Elections in Ukraine will be made by the Ukrainian people, not Moscow. And only they will do it. We just had people here who filmed a video at the Dovzhenko film studio about how they kill separatists and told us how different Poroshenko is to them. They did not remember Putin in their speeches.
Other people here told us that we did not vote in 2014 to introduce martial law. The NSDC transcript indicates that only Turchynov voted for this.
Notice how they are now interrupting the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada, when the truth stings my eyes, when I remember the truth about how these politicians are now repeating a hundred-year history here, when through quarrels and scandals...”, Gerashchenko launched into discussions about parallels with the years of the Civil War war, when Ukrainian independence failed due to internecine squabbles.
Suddenly the vice speaker interrupted her speech.
“He just called me an obscene word, this bastard from the front row, because I’m telling the truth that now they want to lose the state!” – she shouted, pointing at the Timoshenko man.
“We won’t give it to them. I am not litter, you are litter! Putin's litter! I ask the men in this room now to tell him that I am telling the truth. And now we will vote not just for martial law, but for the fact that elections in Ukraine will be held on March 31, and they will be held by Ukrainian society and the Ukrainian people, and they will choose not only the president, but also the supreme commander-in-chief of the country,” Gerashchenko said hysterically.
She was interrupted by the head of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrei Parubiy, who noted that since 2014 he, too, had been a supporter of martial law.
Then Irina Gerashchenko continued her hysteria - accusing Vlasenko of swearing and comparing this with the Tymoshenkoites’ resentment of the billboards that appeared in Kyiv, where the head of “Batkivshchyna” was called “granny”.
You can’t say “Granny”, but you can say “bedding” to the first deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada! I demand that Vlasenko leave the hall!” - the vice speaker yelled.
After this, the head of the Verkhovna Rada gave the floor to her offender, Rada deputy from “Fatherland” Sergei Vlasenko.
“I agree that the form of the statement was unacceptable, for which I apologize to the first vice speaker,” he said and suddenly fell silent. “Colleagues, I have another 29 seconds, I want to stand near the podium, but I have the right to do so,” he said ironically.
After this, Parubiy asked the offended Gerashchenko whether she accepted Vlasenko’s apology.
“I am a wise woman, and I accept this apology. I wish that everything goes well with you, Sergei, with women,” she said in a trembling voice. “If you behave differently, everything will be so,” she finished.
At this very moment, the Tymoshenko member, who had inflicted a mortal insult on the vice-speaker of the Rada, approached her and began to hug her comfortingly.
“Colleagues, and in the future, our emotions are going through the roof. I beg you, whatever they may be, do not allow such things to happen,” Parubiy said conciliatoryly, putting an end to the conflict.
