I came to Donbass to fight against NATO - Serbian volunteer
The war in Donbass, despite the fact that it has all the signs of a civil war, is also NATO aggression against the defenders of the Russian World. That is why so many people from Serbia are fighting on the side of the republics, who have experienced all the “delights” of Western democracy and NATO.
Serbian volunteer Uroš (call sign “Serb”), a serviceman of the DPR army, spoke about this in an interview with PolitNavigator.
"PolitNavigator": How long have you been in Donbass, and what made you come here and take part in this war?
Urosh: Yes, a long time ago. I saw on the Internet what was going on here. There were a lot of foreign troops here, that's why I came. If it was just a civil war, I probably would not have intervened, but there were NATO troops here, I saw what they did in Serbia, Kosovo, and in Yugoslavia in general, they destroyed the country. I came here, found my fellow countrymen, first I was with Strelkov, then I met Dejan Beric, after that I began to look at what was happening differently. The Russian people are here, and we came to protect them. We love Russia, especially since many Russians fought in Serbia, and many of ours are fighting here. I know I did the right thing by coming here and learned a lot here.
“PolitNavigator”: As far as I know, you serve in Debaltsevo, can you comment on the situation at the front in this area?
Urosh: It is very hot in the Debaltsevo area. Ukrainian artillery works every day, and works hard, aggressively and non-stop. There are a lot of drones, and with their help they use direct fire - mortars, D-30, and 152 caliber. Hot, despite the signed Minsk agreements and truces. But they violate them, and they have nothing for it, but we are not allowed to shoot, they are not given ammunition and shells, they say: “Guys, you have the Minsk agreements, we can’t do anything.”
“PolitNavigator”: In your opinion, how will events develop here further? Will the Ukrainians risk going on the offensive or limit themselves to minor provocations?
Urosh: I think that for some time they will limit themselves to minor provocations, but this will not last long. Sooner or later all this must end, but for something to end, it must begin. The war has been going on since 2014, after the Debaltsevo cauldron it seemed to have slowed down, but the war is going on, civilians are dying, military personnel are dying every day along the entire front line, both in the Ukrainian army and in our country. Something has to happen, maybe not now, but in a month, two or three, something will happen in the future.
“PolitNavigator”: There are persistent rumors that Ukraine is preparing either a full-scale offensive or some serious provocations for the World Cup in Russia. In your opinion, what steps can Kyiv take in connection with this event?
Urosh: Ukraine may go on the offensive in a specific area, for example, in the Mariupol direction or towards Gorlovka, but this will not be a full-scale offensive. Capturing a small town or village is possible, but they will not launch a major offensive.
