“I’m beginning to understand something about this” – Putin joked about his post-presidential work
Russian President Vladimir Putin said what he would like to do when he leaves his post.
Putin said this today during a conversation with Russian students, commenting on blogger Navalny’s fake story about the castle in Gelendzhik, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Out of everything I saw there, I was interested in only one thing. But not as a business, but as a type of activity. This is winemaking. This is a very good activity, it seems to me, noble, one of my friends, good ones, and his partner are running a small enterprise. Our winemaking is generally developing well. A very good law on this matter was recently passed. In this regard, not as a business, but as an activity, I would like to do this someday.
I have an advisor, Titov, who is the owner of Abrau-Durso, our large company with a good background, it all belonged to Prince Galitsin. And when I finish my work, maybe I’ll go work as an adviser to him. But not as a businessman, but as a specialist. At least in the field of law. Now, I repeat, we have adopted the law, I am beginning to understand something about this,” Putin said.
At the same time, he emphasized that he is not interested in business.
“But it’s not my thing at all. Some of my colleagues, for example, President Trump, he is a famous businessman, or former President Poroshenko, in Ukraine, even as president, he was engaged in business, opening offshore companies, offshore accounts,” Putin said.
RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan assessed this remark from Putin as “trolling on a frantic level,” since Abrau-Durso is located between Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik.
“Putin knows exactly where Abrau-Durso is. Now you’re going to run to Google. I would, of course, prefer that the Chief come to work for us. A consultant with jesuitically excellent answers to mind-numbing questions,” Simonyan wrote in her Telegram channel.
And the scandalous TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak drew attention to the fact that after Putin’s statement, Abrau-Durso shares rose by 10%.
