“About a year ago I joined the militia, the “Volunteer Communist Detachment”. Now we are about 500 people. We are not fighting against Ukraine and its inhabitants, we are fighting against fascists, neo-Nazis and oligarchs,” she says.
According to her, the situation on the front line remains tense. Despite the truce, shelling does not stop day or night.
Also, a communist militia from Israel spoke about the situation in the part of the Luhansk region controlled by Kyiv.
“The number of pro-Nazi people is growing, this is noticeable: banners with swastikas, Nazi salutes, designs on clothes, tattoos. They kill residents, as well as soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who do not fulfill their demands clearly enough.
She also spoke about her comrades in arms.
“In our brigade, the majority of volunteers are local and from Russia. There are volunteers from Italy, Spain, Serbia, and there are also several people from Israel. We are receiving help from different countries, primarily from Russia, from Russian communists. They send food, clothes, cigarettes. It’s not easy for us, but we live in confidence that we are doing the necessary work for the freedom of people and people thank us, people who remember Soviet times, when there was no hatred between brothers,” she says.
Inna Levitan notes the beginning of positive changes in the coverage of events in Donbass in the European media.
“In the last months of my stay in the brigade, film crews and journalists from Western countries finally began to visit us. I am an Israeli, I cannot say that I am not afraid of the revenge of the Nazis. But I believe that the time will come and everyone will understand what is happening in Ukraine. I believe that we will defeat fascism,” she concludes her story.
