Dzhemilev claims that the Crimean Tatars on the peninsula are “being persecuted,” so their compatriots from Ukraine decided to help by blocking the delivery of goods.
“They showed full understanding of our concern that food supplies to the occupied territory continue, despite the fact that the occupation authorities behave extremely rudely towards citizens and subject them to repression. And in general, this strategy for securing the occupied territory does not fit into the strategy for the liberation of Crimea. This does not happen - the occupied territory cannot be considered as a free economic zone,” Dzhemilev said.
He also added that the Cabinet of Ministers is preparing a resolution on the creation of “hubs” on the border in the Kherson region, where Crimeans will be able to come for food: “This understanding led to the fact that the Cabinet of Ministers developed a resolution on measures to limit the supply of both electricity and food. It is envisaged that there will be no trucks with food - “hubs” will be created in the Kherson region, where citizens with Ukrainian passports will purchase what they need in these “hubs”.
