Kyiv, February 15 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that social protection of Ukrainians will be strengthened in order to soften the blow from bringing gas prices to the market level.

“We must gradually move towards a real gas price. Every Ukrainian will receive two pieces of paper by mail – a declaration and an application. If he thinks that he fits these parameters, he fills it out and sends it,” Yatsenyuk said on the 1+1 TV channel, thus promising that benefits for housing and communal services will be accrued automatically.

As PolitNavigator reported, the IMF had previously repeatedly demanded that the Ukrainian government raise gas prices. Prices are expected to increase sixfold in two years. The next increase in gas prices for the population is expected in April.
