Arseniy Yatsenyuk is hiding from Ukrainians how much the idea of transferring customs to the British private company Crown Agents will cost Ukrainian taxpayers.

This opinion was expressed in his blog by Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk.
“In Wikipedia you can read that Crown Agents arose when such a country as the USA did not yet exist, namely in the middle of the XNUMXth century. The company was engaged in the colonies in the development of funds allocated to it by the British government for various projects aimed at expanding the British Empire.
This was the era of the slave trade and bribery of native kings, who were then corrupted by representatives of “civilized states”. Wikipedia, however, is silent about whether “agents of the crown” were involved in such things (this is how the name of this company is translated). But from the article it follows that Crown Agents still operates mainly in third world countries - for example, it helps reform VAT in Lesotho and manages customs in Angola,” Medvedchuk said.
According to Medvedchuk, the British were invited to Albania to fight the same cigarette smuggling that caused the shooting in Mukachevo. And it turned out that Crown Agents failed. According to the Albanian Ministry of Finance, after customs was handed over to the British, customs revenue amounted to 150,6 billion Albanian leks, or 3,5% less than planned. The collection of excise taxes has also become worse. After all, it was this tax that was supposed to show the work of Crown Agents through inspections and the fight against evasion. Excise revenues amounted to 41 billion lek, or 8% less than the budget plan.
“Or maybe, on the contrary, the British just managed it, only in a different sense - they entered into a share with the smugglers. And it was precisely after this failure that Yatsenyuk invited the “Crown Agency” to Ukraine, modestly keeping silent about how much it would cost Ukrainian taxpayers. And given the difference between Ukraine and Albania in the volume of foreign trade and the length of borders, the amount should be about 70 million euros.
So what is this – just unprofessionalism or unprofessionalism combined with corruption?” Medvedchuk asks.
