The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander, spoke about this in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, who named, in his opinion, the most odious figures who “adorn” the pedestal of the Ukrainian political Olympus” and for whom the investigation has questions regarding their participation in armed conflicts in Chechnya and in Ukraine.
He names a number of names of Ukrainian figures of the nationalist movement, among which, in particular, are Oleg Tyagnibok, Dmitry Korchinsky, Dmitry Yarosh, Igor Mazur and others.
“The investigation also established that in these same years, Arseniy Yatsenyuk fought with them as part of the punitive detachment “Argo” and then “Viking”, led by Alexander Muzychko, against servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces,” Bastrykin added.
“According to the investigation, Arseniy Yatsenyuk participated in at least two armed clashes that took place on December 31, 1994 on Minutka Square in the city of Grozny and in February 1995 in the area of city hospital No. 9 in the city of Grozny, as well as in the torture and execution of captured Russian army servicemen in the Oktyabrsky district of the city of Grozny on January 7, 1995, the chief investigator of the Russian Federation clarified. – According to the information we have, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, along with other active members of the UNA-UNSO, was awarded Dzhokhar Dudayev’s highest award “Honor of the Nation” in December 1995 for the destruction of Russian military personnel. Yatsenyuk's interrogated associates characterize him as an educated, intelligent, but at the same time cunning and resourceful person, as they say, striving for power and publicity from an early age. At the beginning of 1995, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, as part of a group of journalists, returned to Ukraine through Georgia. Subsequently, he was repeatedly seen at congresses and other UNA-UNSO events in Kyiv.”
Alexander Bastrykin does not say whether Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who appears in the interview, is related to the current Ukrainian prime minister.
