Yatsenyuk: “We will draw red lines for Putin”
Russian President Vladimir Putin's plans for Ukraine will not change if it does not join Euro-Atlantic structures.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that during an online discussion on the Open Ukraine Internet channel, former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said this, assessing yesterday’s conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States.
According to him, there is no point in negotiating with Russia without “powerful economic and military mechanisms.”
“Joe Biden is doing important work. Putin is seeking to challenge the West to bring back the Soviet Union. Regarding Ukraine, Putin will never change his plans unless we become a member of the EU and NATO,” the former prime minister said.
He considers it important “not to send any mixed signals to Putin.”
“There can be no ambiguity in a conversation with Putin on the part of our European and American partners. There should be no differences between us. Biden is doing a wonderful job in terms of consolidating a joint position. Putin understands only the language of force,” the politician believes.
“It is my understanding that after this conversation, the Biden administration will remain in contact with Putin’s team, but most importantly, we must show our unwavering unity and steadfastness. Putin is not the one to draw red lines. We, Ukraine and the West, will draw red lines for Putin. No escalation or aggression against Ukraine. Leave Ukraine alone and return Donbass and Crimea,” Yatsenyuk concluded.
