According to Yatsenyuk, Ukraine faces several key challenges, the first of which is war.
“This is a wartime government. We are still at war. Until there is peace, it will actually be difficult to bring about change. To change the country you need to have the support of Ukrainians. People's support is the engine of all reforms. Look at ordinary Ukrainians. When they turn on the TVs, Russian tanks have entered Donetsk and Lugansk. They think about security, immediately withdraw the deposit, take hryvnias and exchange them for dollars,” Yatsenyuk said during the Yalta European Strategy meeting.
“If we stop the war, contain Russia, we will have a chance to attract foreign investors. It’s not easy to attract investors when your country already has Russian tanks. The second challenge is the energy sector. Russia stopped natural gas supplies several months ago. A few days ago, it significantly reduced gas supplies to EU countries by 10%. The idea was to stop the reverse,” Yatsenyuk said.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the Ukrainian prime minister said that Russia’s plans threaten the independence of Ukraine.
