Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said this during the 10th Security Forum held in Kyiv, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I would like to recall Putin’s speech at a similar forum in Munich, when he actually started a new Cold War in the world, after which the reformatting of the world order quickly began. You can remember what happened later. Russia attacked Georgia, Ukraine asked NATO for a MAP. Then the war in Syria, which claimed many lives. A few days ago, the Bashar al-Assad regime, supported by President Putin, committed another international crime - it killed innocent people and children with chemical weapons,” Yatsenyuk said, without, however, providing any evidence of Damascus’ involvement in the chemical attack.
“The Arab Spring took place over the past few years, as did the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity, when Ukraine decided to join the EU. Then President Putin decided to take revenge: he annexed Crimea, sent his troops to the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, seizing the land of independent Ukraine. Finally, Britain leaves the EU, Trump became President of the United States. This is a new era in world politics,” the politician noted.
He also added that the world continues to feel the consequences of the economic crisis of 2008 and recalled the fall in oil prices.
“Something crazy is happening in politics for all our countries. Populism has risen to its feet. These are, of course, challenges and a threat to the stability of our peoples,” Yatsenyuk concluded.
Note that Yatsenyuk preferred to speak in English.
