“We generally have 17 billion cubic meters. m of gas in Ukrainian gas storage facilities. We additionally need at least 5 billion cubic meters. m of gas in order to get through the heating season and get through the winter.

We have now maximally increased the volume of reverse supplies of natural gas from Slovakia, and in fact, it is solely thanks to the reverse that the country now survives and is heated. We have replaced 60% of the natural gas that we previously bought from Russia with natural gas that we now buy from the EU.

Over the past month, Russia has begun to actively blackmail Europe and reduce the volume of natural gas supplies to EU member states so that the EU will refuse the reverse flow to Ukraine. Having created a shortage in the European market, the Russians hoped that our European friends would refuse to supply gas to Ukraine, but this did not happen.

Once again, on behalf of the Ukrainian government, I would like to thank our European partners for their position...

Now we technically need to start pumping additional gas into storage facilities in order to get through peak winter loads. Our position is as follows: signing the protocol is possible only at the trilateral level: the EU, Ukraine and a third party - the Russians.

Second. As for gas already supplied and payment for gas volumes that are partly in storage and partly have been used. Ukraine’s position is that we can pay for the total volume of gas at a price of $268. Gazprom can interpret this in its own way, but our position is that gas supplied to Ukraine, already delivered, will be paid for at a price of $268. For this purpose, we have 3,1 on our accounts, 268 billion US dollars as financial assistance from the IMF and the EU. Thus, the volumes of natural gas supplied in the past by the Ukrainian side are accounted for at a price of $XNUMX, and for this, Ukraine has all the necessary means to completely close the accounts for the supply of natural gas that was made in the past.

Upon payment. The first tranche of payment for gas, which was supplied in the past, is 1 billion 450, will be carried out as soon as possible, immediately after the signing of the protocol. The balance in the amount of 1 billion 650 will be implemented before the end of this year.

Deliveries of new volumes of gas are carried out immediately by Russia by subscription - just as we buy gas in Europe, in volumes determined by Ukraine. If Ukraine makes an advance payment, Russia is obliged to supply natural gas.

And that’s why I’m surprised by the Russians’ question about financial guarantees regarding advance payment. There is money, we paid - they supplied gas, we did not pay - they did not supply gas. In principle, it’s quite simple, you can even understand it when you speak Ukrainian for Russians.

The third question on price - I want to remind you that the basic approach that we announced 4,5 months ago was as follows, this was our common position with the European Union: in the summer season the price is 325, in the winter, when energy prices rise, - price 385.

Now we have reached positions where the price will be determined by a formula that is directly in the contract, and at the same time, such a formula is influenced by the cost of oil, the price of which has dropped significantly. This means that in the last quarter of this year the price will be 378, and the first quarter of next year, the price will be at 365,” Yatsenyuk listed.

He added that negotiations will take place today with Angela Merkel and US Vice President Joe Biden, during which Kyiv will consult on the fate of gas supplies. In addition, Ukraine does not intend to withdraw its claim to the Stockholm court against Moscow in order to revise the gas contract, Yatsenyuk emphasized.
