“There are no resources to build something today and, most likely, there won’t be in 2015,” said an official in the Verkhovna Rada, answering a question from one of the people’s deputies whether the government supports the idea of building roads in the Carpathian region.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that one of the most serious problems of the state is debt obligations.
In 2013, more than UAH 3 billion was allocated for road work. In 2014, Mykola Azarov’s government planned to spend UAH 6,7 billion on road repairs and construction.
It was planned to solve priority tasks within the framework of the implementation of the State Target Economic Program for the Development of Public Roads for 2013-18.
“This work will be carried out in all areas from east to west, from south to east. The program provides for an overall increase in the volume of work almost fourfold. This will make it possible to repair more than 7 thousand km of roads,” Ukravtodor made plans at the time.
