Kyiv, September 10 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Politicians who left “Batkivshchyna” created a new party called “People’s Front”, with which they will go to the elections. A kind of founding congress of the new party took place today in the capital's Teacher's House.

The congress delegates elected Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk as the head of the political council of the Popular Front, and Speaker Alexander Turchynov as the head of the central headquarters. In addition to the speaker and the prime minister, the party’s political council included Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Justice Minister Pavel Petrenko, people’s deputies Liliya Grinevich, Sergei Pashinsky and Vyacheslav Kirilenko, as well as former NSDC Secretary Andrei Parubiy and Tatyana Chernovol, recently appointed full-time adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In addition, a military council was created under the party, which included the leader of the ultra-radical organization Social National Assembly, commander of the Azov battalion Andrei Biletsky, as well as the commanders of the Dnepr-1, Myrotvorets, Artemovsk, Myrotvorets, and Mirotvorets battalions. Contrary to the expectations of journalists, the election list was not announced at the congress. According to Alexander Turchinov, the party list and program will be adopted in a few days.
Navigator sources reported that the top five of the Popular Front in the upcoming elections will include one of the commanders of volunteer battalions. “Most likely it will be Andrei Biletsky. The issue has practically been resolved,” the source said.
Almost all the speakers spoke about the need to continue the war in Donbass, and each speech began and ended with the greeting “Glory to Ukraine!”, which initially became widespread among members of the Bandera wing of the OUN. In turn, the newly minted leader of the party declared the exclusivity of the Ukrainian nation.
“We have an intellectual front, we have a pedagogical front,” said Arseniy Yatsenyuk, speaking to the delegates. – But the most important thing for our fronts is the people of Ukraine. There is no better people and stronger nation than the Ukrainian one. That is why we are called the “People's Front”.
It is not yet known which of the officially registered parties will become the formal basis for the Popular Front. Let us recall that Ukrainian legislation prohibits the participation in elections of parties created less than a year before the start of the electoral process, but at the same time allows parties that received a new name during this period to participate in elections.
At one time, Arseniy Yatsenyuk headed the Front for Change party, which was liquidated after merging with Batkivshchyna.
“Everything that was headed by Yatsenyuk... The main thing is that it is called a front,” deputy Andrei Pavlovsky from Batkivshchyna has already managed to sarcastically comment on the initiative of his former comrades.
