Yatsenyuk proposes to appoint as Minister of Energy someone accused of embezzling $160 million
Kyiv, November 25 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) – Arseniy Yatsenyuk proposes Andrei Kobolev, the current head of the board of Naftogaz, for the post of Minister of Energy in the new government of Ukraine. The newspaper “Young Ukraine” published information according to which the future minister is suspected of fraud with the misappropriation of $160 million in public funds.

The publication recalls that on September 2, 2014, the newspaper published its own investigation into how the former head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, Andrei Kobolev, allegedly participated in the misappropriation of $2006 million in public funds during 2009-160.
On November 27, 2006, Naftogaz of Ukraine took out a loan from the British bank Credit Suisse AG in the amount of $550 million at 3,5% per annum.
Three years later the loan was repaid. After the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the debt obligations of the National Joint Stock Company were exchanged for state-guaranteed Eurobonds of the company at 9,5 per annum. This allowed Naftogaz to pay. Soon, out of 550 million, 549,7 million were returned, leaving a small debt of 0,3 million dollars.
Suddenly the loan agreement was changed, and the rate increased from 3,5% to 9,5% with the need to pay a foreign exchange option of $160 million. Although financiers, Ukraine Young reports, deny the possibility of an option appearing under the bond mechanism with a corresponding interest rate.
It turns out that 160 million from the budget went to no one knows where. One of the consultants of this agreement was Kobolev, the current head of Naftogaz of Ukraine, who is tipped for the post of Minister of Energy and Coal Industry.
