Yatsenyuk suggested Donetsk and Lugansk expand economic independence: “Think carefully so as not to ask to change it back”

He stated this during the II All-Ukrainian Round Table of National Unity, which took place today in Kharkov.
“The issue of decentralization is a matter of the Constitution. Without changes to the Constitution there will be no decentralization. There will be a screen. That is why it is necessary to collect 300 votes in parliament for real constitutional reform. In addition, such a constitutional reform must take place in the most transparent format, so that people understand what will be written in the Ukrainian constitution and what will be directly changed in it. Therefore, we support the decision made by the temporary special commission of parliament on the first approximate text of possible amendments to the Constitution,” Yatsenyuk said.
He noted that next it is necessary to obtain expert conclusions from the Venice Commission, then, after a national dialogue, through a constitutional majority in the Verkhovna Rada, adopt this document.
“Financial fulfillment. I would not like to go into details now, but I will say this: perhaps we need to think about conducting an economic experiment in certain regions of Ukraine before introducing changes to the Constitution and the Budget Code. For example, conduct an economic experiment in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. But I would like to point out right away that the experiment that was offered to us: we, of course, will keep all taxes, but you will pay the miners from the central budget... There are questions. Let’s honestly sit down and calculate how much, so that later it doesn’t happen that you yourself ask that let’s change this medical... economic experiment,” Yatsenyuk said.
The Prime Minister addressed the eastern regions, in particular Donetsk and Lugansk: “If you are ready to accept an increased degree of economic independence, we are ready for this too. And think carefully before switching to this economic independence. 34 billion UAH. “This is a direct subsidy from the central budget for 180 thousand miners,” Yatsenyuk said.
