Yatsenyuk called on Europe to freeze in winter and abandon the Russian gas pipeline for the sake of “European values”
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk believes that the project to build the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline contradicts the stated principles of the European gas market, causes significant damage to Ukraine and Slovakia and maintains the EU’s energy dependence on Russia. Therefore, Kyiv hopes that the European Commission will block this project.

Yatsenyuk stated this at a joint briefing today with Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico in Bratislava.
“I hope that the European Commission will not just pay attention to this, but that the right decision will be made, which corresponds not to price, but to European values,” he said.
The agreement between the shareholders of the project company for the construction of the third and fourth lines of Nord Stream was signed on September 4 in Moscow. The new consortium included six participants: Gazprom, E.ON, BASF/Wintershall, OMV, Engie, Shell.
The Nord Stream 2 project involves the construction of two strings of an offshore gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters. m of gas per year from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea.
