During his speech at the 11th meeting of the “Yalta European Strategy,” the Prime Minister named receiving a loan from the IMF as one of his government’s successes, but noted that this required budget sequestration.
“It is very important that Ukrainians agreed and accepted that the government was forced to raise tariffs, taxes and rents, and the standard of living dropped significantly. We have achieved success with the IMF, partly in deregulation, adopted several anti-corruption laws, brought part of the economy out of the shadows, adopted a procurement law,” he said.
“But we also learned about failures. We have failed to completely overcome corruption; we have corrupt courts, prosecutors and Soviet-style police or militia,” admitted Yatsenyuk, noting that his government has prepared an action plan to overcome, among other things, these negative aspects.
“In this action plan, we clearly outlined what needs to be done in various areas. This is not the last plan, and we can submit long – 100 pages – comprehensive plans. We need a clear strategy that must be implemented,” the prime minister said.
As PolitNavigator reported, on September 3, the Prime Minister presented a government action plan called “Restoration of Ukraine.”
