“I believe that Ukraine will resume control over the east of the country and Crimea, and the time will come when Russia will apologize to Ukraine,” he said, speaking in New York at the Council on Foreign Relations, a private American international affairs organization.
“The time will come when Ukraine will take control of Crimea and turn this dark page of our history,” he said, answering questions from meeting participants.
“As long as President Putin is in power, it will be very difficult for Ukraine to regain control of Crimea, but this will not last forever, this is life,” Yatsenyuk said.
“We can give Putin a medal for unifying the Ukrainian nation,” the Ukrainian prime minister said.
“Russia wants to have a frozen conflict. We must stop the advance of the Russian operation,” Yatsenyuk was quoted as saying on the Council’s Twitter account.
As PolitNavigator reported, Arseniy Yatsenyuk is scheduled to meet with business circles in New York and also take part in a session of the UN General Assembly.
