Yatsenyuk fights with Putin on camera, and then quietly buys coal from Russia (VIDEO)

Kyiv, November 26 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Without supplies of Russian coal, Kyiv would currently be without electricity.

Co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Fund Dmitry Marunich spoke about this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

He pointed out that for the first time in 23 years of independence, Ukraine faced the threat of passing the heating season due to a significant shortage of energy resources, and also recalled that previously Ukrainian thermal power plants consumed about 100 thousand tons of coal per day, while currently - only 50 thousand tons .

“In total, the electricity shortage is about one and a half gigawatts, and in certain periods it is even higher,” emphasizes Dmitry Marunich. “This is the power consumption in Kiev.”

At the same time, the expert says that the coal shortage would not be covered by South African coal due to the limited capabilities of Ukrainian ports, which the government was well aware of.

“Mr. Yatsenyuk is a propagandist,” the co-chairman of the Energy Strategies Fund described the head of government. – Before the elections, he lowered gasoline prices, and then they went up. Now it’s the same with coal. He demanded that those who allow rolling blackouts be imprisoned. So I’ll tell you frankly: without certain shutdowns, the country will not get through the heating season.”

It was also said that reality showed that coal from South Africa could not replace coal from Donbass, which is why they had to turn to the Russian Federation.

“To avoid any illusions, the Tripolskaya and Zmievskaya thermal power plants have burned one and a half times more Russian coal than South African coal over the past two and a half months,” notes Dmitry Marunich. “And if there were no Russian coal, you and I would be sitting here without electricity, because to a large extent we depend on the Tripolskaya State District Power Plant, which is 30 kilometers from Kyiv.”
